Tanz im August is inviting Berlin’s choreographers to engage with the themes of nature and sustainability. The question of how artists, and international festivals in particular, can respond to the urgency of the climate crisis is being addressed through an open call – and taken to the middle of Berlin’s parks. From a multitude of project proposals on the overarching theme of dance and ecology, 22 short choreographies by Berlin-based artists were chosen, which will be presented in three different parcours in public spaces on multiple afternoons as part of the Tanz im August programme. These works provide palpable examples of the interconnections between art, performance and sustainability, and they can be accessed for free and in the open air.

A jury of four, consisting of Onur Çimen (Curator & Author), Astrid Kaminski (Author & Journalist), Alina Lauer (Production Manager & Dramaturgy Tanz im August) and Anna Yeboah (Architect & Curator), selected the following works by 22 Berlin artists from 222 applications:
